Nantes vs Brest Top Picks and Predictions
This will be the meeting between two of the worst teams in Ligue 1 this season, with a winner given a chance to escape the relegation zone momentarily.
Under 2.5 Goals
It has been a massive struggle for both of these teams to score goals, not to mention win games. Both have only one win to their name in ten matches played, and their goal-scoring difference shows how much they lack offensive power, and at the same time have defensive issues.
Nantes to Win
It’s an opportunity for Nantes to finally make a statement that they have a real chance of staying in Ligue 1. Interestingly, the one win they achieved, for Nantes came on their home turf, while Brest won away. In their last five h2h matches, Nantes has won four.
Everything you need to know about Nantes vs Brest
Getting out of the relegation zone
Nantes came back to Ligue 1 recently and with their limited budget is searching for a way to find some balance, and win games that will keep them in the top Division. Creating opportunities for their goal scorers has been a serious issue for Nantes, most of their games are dominated by opponents who figured out how to use their lack of substance in the midfield to their advantage. Nantes’ best scorer is Moses Simon who has three goals to his name and is credited as the best offensive player they have. But, having to work extra hard to get himself into chances to score goals has been a real issue for him, and his teammates out front. Alongside Simon, Mostafa Mohamed is their main scorer, and both of them will be searching for ways to make the winning goal against Brest.
Nantes’ potential lineup: Lafont, Appiah, Castelletto, Pallois, Merlin, Moutoussamy, Chirivella, Blas, Sissoko, Simon, Mostafa Mohamed.
Similar to Nantes, Brest has been struggling to score goals even though they have one more this term than their opponents. Brest had a good game against Lorient last week but failed to use their early advantage eventually losing 2-1. They made Lorient work hard for their win, and it was a blueprint for Brest on how to keep pressuring their opponents and make sure that they make scoring goals as hard as possible. Unfortunately for them, their defense once again failed to deliver important decisions when it mattered the most. There are only a handful of teams that have worse defense than Brest, and fixing that issue will be a prerogative for coach Franck Rizzetto going forward.
Brest potential lineup: Bizot, Uronen, Duverne, Dari, Fadiga, Honorat, Belkebla, Camara, Del Castillo, Slimani, Le Douaron.
